Bedroom Dresser Revamp

I posted about my ugly bedroom dresser last week and I’m so happy to say that I’m finally DONE!
I am so happy with the way it turned out.  Here she is in all her glory!

Remember the before pics. What a transformation, right?!

I painted the drawers in my garage, and painted the rest of the dresser in our room.  It was too bulky and heavy to move.  The drawers got a base coat of white Kilz Primer.  Kilz is the best brand of primer–it covers so well that you only need one spray coat.

I wanted to put a pattern on the dresser fronts, as you can see by the blue tape on the bottom right front, but it ended up looking way to busy and fussy once I got the gray coat of paint on.  So I decided a nice clean front would be best. I used 2 coats of Rustoleum’s Winter Gray spray paint.

I did not use spray paint for the base of the dresser.  I used a small roller to apply the paint on the front and then used a brush for the top and sides.  I like using a brush instead of a roller because it just creates a smoother surface.  I used 2 coats of white primer and 2 coats of white paint.

I’m using yellow as our accent color in the room so I wanted to incorporate a little of that into the dresser.
I thought the handles would be the perfect place to do that.  I used Rustoleum’s Satin Strawflower for the
handles and sprayed a coat of gloss enamel over the top for some extra shine.

Here is one more look at the before shot…

And the oh so much better after…

I really love how this turned out.  It just lightens up the whole room–not only because the color is lighter, but it doesn’t feel so heavy and bulky in the room anymore.  It’s a nice breath of fresh air when I walk in.  The total cost was $15.00 for all the paint.  I like that price tag for a brand new dresser.  My next project in the room is drapes.  I’m almost set on the fabric.  I can’t wait to finally finish this room and show you how it all comes together.
