Decorating With Numbers

Budget Tip of the Day: Numbered Pillows

I’m finishing off this week of numbers with some awesome pillows.  These one’s are from Pottery Barn, but creating your own knock-off version is easy and FAR less expensive.  Just use your computer to print out your number or take it to a print shop to have it enlarged.  Use it to make a stencil on a piece of cardboard and then cut it out.  Trace the number onto vinyl paper using your stencil and cut out with an exacto knife or precision blade.  Apply a light coat of spray adhesive to your vinyl number and place on your fabric or pillow case.  Trace the number on to the pillow with a pencil and then use fabric paint and a small brush to fill it in.  It does require a few steps, but it’s fairly simple to do.  You could use numbers that mean something to you.  Maybe the date of a birthday, holiday, anniversary, etc.  This is a fun and inexpensive way to add a personal touch to your space.

As always, have a wonderful weekend.  Thanks so much for reading my blog.  I hope it continues to inspire you to make your home a beautiful place.

Budget Tip of the Day: Numbered Canisters

Adding a number to any canister or jar is an easy way to turn something plain and boring into something everyone will love.

There are a lot of stores that sell numbered canisters, jars, cups, etc, but this is SO easy to do yourself.  Don’t fork out big bucks for these items anywhere.  Vinyl number decals are the easiest and work the best for this project.  You can find them all over etsy in a variety of styles and colors.  Just add them to what you already have and display in an open spot for all to see.

Whether it’s cotton balls in the bathroom, paper clips in the office, or flour in the kitchen, everyone will ask where you got them and you can proudly say that you made them yourself!  It’s a great feeling.

Budget Tip of the Day: Numbered Hooks

A simple way to boost the wow factor in your home is to number your hooks.  It’s just so charming, isn’t it!  House numbers are very inexpensive and can be found in a variety of styles at any home improvement store.  Just install them above towel hooks in the bathroom, coat/bag hooks in the entryway, or any other place you have a series of hooks.  I especially like them in a bathroom because it helps people remember which towel is theirs.

Budget Tip of the Day: Numbered Chairs

Add some instant charm to the back of your kitchen or dining chairs with a simple number.  It’s amazing how such a small thing can take something to a new level and make it look more expensive than it is.  Again you can do this with a stencil, a decal, or with any house number from a home improvement store.  Easy peasy!  Here is another way to spruce up the back of your chairs.

Budget Tip of the Day: Numbered Dresser

Adding numbers to a dresser or any drawer front is a snap and can totally transform the piece.

There are number of easy ways to do this.  You can paint numbers on freehand or with a stencil, use a decal sticker, or use house numbers.  All are very cheap options and can be done in a matter of minutes.  I love projects that take little time to do but give major impact.  Here is a little inspiration.
