A really inexpensive way to get a custom look is by adding trim to ready-made curtain panels. You can find a huge variety of trims at any fabric store. It may seem simple, but sometimes it’s the little things that add big impact and really pull a space together.
I started with these Ikea panels. They cost me only $14.99 for the pair. I found this amazing greek key trim at JoAnns.
I decided to trim out just the inside edge of each panel. All you need is some Fabri-Tac fabric glue and you’re good to go. I have used other brands of fabric glue before and in my opinion, nothing holds as good as Fabri-Tac.
When you get to the bottom, fold the trim over and secure it with glue. Then fold it over again and secure to the underside of your panel. You want to hide the frayed edge, so it won’t come undone if you need to throw it in the wash.
That’s it! What a difference a little trim makes.
You could also do this with bias tape, ribbon, ric-rac, or whatever you like. The possibilities are endless.
Here is the cost breakdown for my curtains.
Curtains: $14.99 (pair)
6 yards of Trim: $18.00
I used a 50% off coupon for both the trim and Fabri-Tac to get these for super cheap. Are you feeling the trim love yet?!
Come back tomorrow to see how I made my dining bench backboard.
