My Office Reveal: Part 1 — Budget Wise Home

My Office Reveal: Part 1

Welcome to my new and finally finished office.  I have so many pictures to show you, so I’m breaking this up into 2 parts.

Before I go on, let’s take a look at the before pics.  They are NOT pretty.

And now the totally transformed after pics.

This room functions as our office, play room, homework/art area, and craft room.

The black chest was a free find that I painted.  This is where all the toys live.

The orange storage ottomans are my favorite.  They are the perfect stools for my boys to sit on and give us lots of storage for train tracks.

I wanted to give the boys a designated area to do art and homework that was easily accessible, but I didn’t want to add any more furniture to an already small space.  I didn’t want a free standing table in the room because they use the space to play and it would have been in the way.  So I found this wall mounted folding table.

When they want to use it, I fold it up, and when we need more space, it comes right back down and out of the way.  I also love that the edges are rounded so I don’t have to worry about people getting hurt.

I found the picture frames for $1.00 each at the thrift store.  Here is what they looked like before.

I popped out the pictures, painted the black mattes white, and spray painted the frames to match my thrift store chairs and bulletin boards.

This storage system is from Ikea.  It’s one of my favorite parts of the room.  I love having all their crayons, markers, pencils, and scissors out and ready for them to use.  And because they can see it (as opposed to everything in a box in the closet),  they always want to color or do something.

I love a brand new box of crayons.

They love having their own “zone.”

I already posted complete tutorials for my fabric covered bulletin boards (also originally from the thrift store), and my wrapping station.  I have absolutely LOVED the organization they both provide.  I use the bulletin boards to hang all my ideas and inspiration.  It’s great to have a designated spot to put everything and keeps my desk from piling up–most of the time.

What do you think so far?

Come back tomorrow for part 2 of my office reveal.

I’m linking this up with some of these parties.

I love that you included a place for your kids to “work” in mom’s office. Plus the colors you chose are peaceful and vibrant at the same time.

just have a question on that folding table do you still like it? I have an in home pre-k and want something other than the padded plastic tables that I have and get destroyed every year. Do you feel like this is still a quality table? Please let me know and I will order 8! LOL

Wow, now that looks straight out of a BH&G magazine! Love the pops of red throughout the space, it definitely turned out “pretty”!

    Wow that is super cute!
I love the kids “zone,” that is adorable!
That folding table attached the wall is genius!! We have super tiny rooms in our house, and that would be the perfect thing, because sometimes it feels like I can’t add anymore necessary furniture because the room is just too tiny.

    Love it!
