Here are the nursery pics as promised. I am such a sucker for nurseries and kids rooms! I have so many books and magazines purely dedicated to these rooms. This room has been done for a while, but I put it together one month at a time over my entire pregnancy. I basically purchased one thing every month, which made it a lot easier for me budget wise.
These vintage looking cards were my inspiration for the whole room. It was love at first sight and I knew I had to have them.
I got the blue Dotty fabric on sale and used it to sew the curtains and the crib skirt. The fabric was still a bit pricey, so I decided to buy enough for the length of one panel and then cut it in half to make two stationary panels. I kept the blinds to block out the light for nap time. I bought less than a yard of matching red Dotty fabric and used it as an accent with the bows to add a bit more color.
I bought the Pottery Barn gingham crib sheet and matching lamp shade from ebay. I paid less than a fourth of the regular price! I love ebay. I already had the white shelf above the changing table and spray painted an old lamp base white.
I bought the wall mounted bookcase on sale from The Land of Nod. This room is quite small, so I really wanted to use the vertical space so it wouldn’t feel too cramped. This bookshelf was the perfect solution.
The clock has it’s own story. I found this online at a bunch of shops for $75.00. I couldn’t justify paying that much money for a clock, so I didn’t buy it. Then about a month before I was due, I found it by accident at a vintage baby shop that was going out of business. It was only $25.00 and I snatched it up right away. I think it goes perfectly in the room and it makes me smile every time I see it.
I have to show you the before pictures of this room. This is what was here when we moved in. Orange, turquoise, and yellow squares with brown hand prints all over. It was so ugly and the hand prints looked like dirt. I was so happy to see it all go away.
I had some extra fabric so I made these pillows. For an extra fun detail I added the bobble trim.
I wanted to create more of a gender neutral room so that I wouldn’t have to redo and spend more money if we ever have a girl. My husband thinks the red bows on the crib are a bit girly, but they were for me. I spend a lot of time in that room, and I love them. I also wanted something that the baby could grow into–not too babyish of a theme. I’m still saving for a new rocker and ottoman, but that will come in time.
Last, but not least, here is a picture of my cutie. I think he really likes his nursery.

LOVE YOUR NURSERY! You should be super proud of this darling room. I am so impressed with your clock find. Did it just totally make your day, or what?! I love it when things like that happen. I love that old Dick and Jane motif. I went back and forth between the cowboy Dick and Jane and a pirate theme for my baby, but we ended up naming him Xander, and an X marks the spot theme was too cutsie for me to pass up!
How on earth did you get those stripes so straight? I see striped walls all over the internet, but would never dare try it myself because they’d be so crooked. Anyway, great room. Way to go!
Love that cute baby, too!
I love this nursery! I love how you’ve used vintage items while still maintaining a fabulously modern feel. Wow!
I love how educational (not to mention cute!) your nursery is! I suppose that sounds kinda silly, but why risk a wasted opportunity to learn, right?
