Budget Tip of the Day: DIY Charging Station

Keep all your electronic devices and cords organized, hidden, and most importantly, charged by making your own charging station. It’s a quick decorating idea that is easy to do if you’ve got a nightstand or dresser with a drawer, back, and outlet close by. Drill one hole in the back of the drawer and then drill another hole in the back of the dresser, making sure the two align. Thread the cords through both holes and secure together with a clip, leaving enough slack so the drawer can open easily. Plug in your devices and you’re good to go.

Budget Tip of the Day: Double Your Closet Space

Yes, you can literally double your existing closet space for just a few dollars with this quick decorating idea. Just hang a second closet rod below your existing rod and voila: new found storage for your cramped closet. There are a couple ways to do this. The easiest is to buy a double hang closet rod like the one pictured here. No screws or tools needed for this one. Just hang on the existing rod and you’re done. Or, buy a standard closet rod that easily attaches to the wall with screws.

Changing the look of a chair is such a simple and quick decorating idea, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner. Don’t worry if you’ve never attempted a reupholstering project before. Anyone can do this! All you need is an inexpensive staple gun and a little fabric. Take a chair you already have and unscrew the seat from the bottom. Cover the existing fabric with your new fabric and staple to the underside of the seat, pulling to make sure the fabric is tight. Screw the seat back on to the chair and you’re done. Easy does it! Just a few minutes will give you a brand new looking piece of furniture.
